Displaying images on OLED screens — Using 1-bpp images in MicroPython

We've previously covered the basics of driving OLED I2C displays from MicroPython, including simple graphics commands and text. Here we look at displaying monochrome 1 bit-per-pixel images and animations using MicroPython on a Wemos D1.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.2bitcoder.com/article/displaying-images-oled-displays/

Neat tutorial man! used it to do a little animation on my D1 :+1

Can you do the same with gifs?

Been thinking about it, but not got much further. It’s a bit more complicated since you need to download the image, pre-process it (scale, colour mono & dither it) before you display it. How difficult it is depends on how much is already available in MicroPython tbh. Would be nice little gadget though.
